Malaga film route

Why Malaga feels cinematic

Malaga has the ingredients filmmakers and visitors both enjoy: old streets, port light, hillside views, theatres, lively squares and a centre that changes mood every few corners. You do not need to know every production filmed here to enjoy a cinema-flavoured walk.

Start around Plaza de la Merced and Calle Granada, move past El Pimpi and the Picasso route, then continue towards Teatro Cervantes and the old town's theatre streets. Finish in Soho if you want the contemporary performing-arts side of the city.

A simple walking route

Begin in Plaza de la Merced, one of Malaga's most open and social squares. Walk down Calle Granada, passing the church of Santiago and the streets around the Picasso Museum. Continue towards El Pimpi and Alcazabilla, then loop north towards Teatro Cervantes.

From there, drift back through the centre or head to Soho and the Teatro del Soho area. It is an easy route, unless you stop at every terrace. Which is not failure. It is fieldwork.

Make it part of a culture day

Pair the film route with the Picasso Museum, Museo de Malaga, CAC Malaga or a live performance. Malaga's cultural strength is not one building; it is the density of culture, food and street life within a small radius.
